Finance Minister Appoints Dušan Baran as New Member of the Board of Directors of the Financial Market Guarantee System
Prague, 1 August 2024: Dušan Baran is the Executive Director of the Czech Banking Association. He replaces Monika Zahálková, former Director of the Czech Banking Association.
Dušan Baran, who is also the Executive Director of the Czech Banking Association, will join the five-member Board of Directors of the Financial Market Guarantee System. Finance Minister Zbyněk Stanjura appointed him as a member starting from 1 August 2024 for a five-year term.
"The Board of Directors is the supreme governing body of the Guarantee System. In addition to overseeing its operations, the Board's responsibilities include approving budget, annual reports, important public tenders, and appointing the three-member Management Board, which consists of employees of the Guarantee System," explains Renáta Kadlecová, the Executive Director of the Guarantee System.
The Financial Market Guarantee System manages a total amount of CZK 85.47 billion. Of this, CZK 47.53 billion is currently in the Deposit Insurance Fund and CZK 37.94 billion is in the Crisis Resolution Fund.
Dušan Baran brings extensive experience from the financial and banking sector to the Board of Directors. He studied at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University in Prague and the Katz GBS University of Pittsburgh.
