Minister of Finance reappointed Monika Zahálková as a member of the Board of Directors of the Financial Market Guarantee System
Prague, 9 January 2024 - Monika Zahálková, who is also the Executive Director of the Czech Banking Association, has been serving on the five-member Management Board of the Financial Market Guarantee System since 2021. Her term of office, after her reappointment, will last until 2029.
The Board of Directors of the Guarantee System is composed of five members and consists of two employees of the Czech National Bank, two employees of the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic and one member appointed on the proposal of the Czech Banking Association. The members are appointed by the Minister of Finance for a period of five years and may be reappointed. The current list of the Board of Directors members is available here.
”The Board of Directors is the highest body of the Guarantee Scheme. In addition to overseeing its functioning, one of the tasks of the Board of Directors is to appoint a three-member Management Board, which is composed of employees of the Guarantee System," explains Renáta Kadlecová, Executive Director
of the Financial Market Guarantee System.
The Guarantee system manages a total amount of CZK 51.8 billion. Of this, the Deposit Insurance Fund currently has CZK 17.6 billion and the Crisis Resolution Fund CZK 34.2 billion.
Monika Zahálková graduated from the University of Economics in Prague. Since 2001, she has served as Executive Director and member of the Steering Committee of the Czech Institute of Directors and since 2014 she has also served as Managing Director of CG Institut. Between 2018 and 2019 she was a member of the Board of Directors of the media house Economia. She has co-authored several professional publications in the field of corporate governance and educational programs for members of elected bodies. Since November 2020, she has been the Executive Director of the Czech Banking Association.
